What is Podiatry?

Podiatry is a health profession which deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of conditions relating to the lower limbs and feet.

Podiatrists treat patients with a range of foot problems, from young children to athletes with sporting injuries, to the management of foot problems of the elderly. Podiatrists carry out general maintenance of the feet, as well as treat foot pain, injuries and recurring problems associated with walking and sports.

Podiatrists also frequently care for high risk patients such as diabetic patients, and those with poor circulation. Patients also include those with neurological disorders, arthritis, soft-tissue and muscular pathologies resulting in foot problems. To see some of the conditions which we treat, please see common conditions.
